An important part of your course is the opportunity to get to know English people and the English way of life, so we recommend that you stay with one of our local home stay providers.
Our accommodation officer, who is responsible for your accommodation, takes great care to find you somewhere you will be happy and comfortable. Homestay providers may be couples with children, couples or single people. She inspects, selects and re-inspects all the homestay providers and speaks to both you and your homestay provider during your stay. She is always ready to give you any advice you might need.
All our homestay providers live in Winchester, within walking distance or a short bus ride. Before you arrive in Winchester we will send you a map showing the location of the school, information about your homestay provider and advice about staying and travelling in England.
1. Standard Homestay: Your homestay provider will provide you with dinner, bed and breakfast Monday to Friday and full board at the weekends.
2. Homestay with Private Bathroom(if available): Your homestay provider will provide you with dinner, bed and breakfast Monday to Friday and full board at the weekends and you will have your own private use of a bathroom.
3. Self Catering (if available): You will live with a homestay provider but you will be responsible for your meals.
4. Summer Term ONLY Student Residence (if available): Self catering, single room in Winchester University student accommodation (10 minutes walk from city centre).
Pilar Tahoces stayed here in the Summer 2009. Read what she said about it:
"My experience was great in the residence. I liked living there because I met a lot of people - English people. I learned with them. There are a lot of advantages to living in the residence for me. I could prepare my own food and another advantage is I enjoyed myself there. I'll miss it and I'll miss Winchester. Thank you for everything."
Andrea Bandano Sericano from Italy stayed here for 4 weeks in 2010
Well, what about my personal experience in the Winchester University student village?
If you love to be free and independent at times, you should choose to stay here because in the village you can do all the things you want to do. It is also a really good opportunity to make a lot of friends. The most important experience for me is that for the first time I tried and learned to cook!
5. Hotel: While we recommend staying with a homestay provider as being an important part of your English language learning experience, it is possible for us to arrange hotel accommodation if you would prefer that.

Please note: Students sometimes think they can find their own accommodation and so they do not book accommodation for the whole length of their course. It is not easy to find accommodation. If a student books accommodation for a shorter period than the length of their tuition they will be charged an additional £100 administration fee. This will be refunded if the student finds accommodation that is not with one of our host families. However, if the student extends their accommodation with one of our host families the Winchester School of English will retain the administration fee. Agents, please could you advise your clients of this situation.
